Abstract: The quantity and quality of water resources in Northwest China are calculated and analyzed based on the synchronous data of rainfall, evaporation and runoff recorded for forty years. The features, status quo and evolution tendency of exploitation and utilization of water resources in Northwest China are summed up. The present situation of ecological environment is appraised. Suggestions on exploitation and utilization and protection of water resources in Northwest China are presented.
