Investigation into the towing performance of single-column composite bucket foundations

  • The single-column composite bucket foundation is a promising solution that combines the benefits of single-column and bucket foundations. It offers advantages such as reduced construction time and cost, as well as environmental friendliness. Towing plays a crucial role in enabling the reusability, transportability, and ease of installation of single-column composite bucket foundations. Therefore, it is essential to thoroughly investigate the towing characteristics of this foundation type to provide technical guidance for the actual towing process. In this study, numerical simulations of the single-column composite bucket foundation were conducted using MOSES software. The simulation results demonstrate that the single-column composite bucket foundation exhibits favorable towing performance. Its motion response is significantly influenced by wave and floating conditions, with the need to avoid cross waves and large waves. Towing should also be avoided when the wave period is close to the foundation's inherent period. Furthermore, adjusting the height of the towing point, draft depth, and towing speed enhances the towing stability of the structure.
