Review on of termite control in water conservancy projects

  • Termites, as one of the major levee pests, have posed a significant hidden danger to the safe operation of water conservancy projects. With societal development and environmental changes, higher requirements have been put forward for termite control. This paper reviews the research progress in termite prevention, exploration, and disposal in water conservancy projects, elaborating on the basic principles, applicable scenarios, and application effects of key technologies for termite prevention and control. The advances in termite monitoring and early warning technology are reviewed, and their technical principles, system architecture, and functions are described. The practical application and exploration of integrated termite control technology are summarized, and the applicability and limitations of these technologies are discussed. On this basis, the study proposes thoughts on future research directions in the fields of termite habits, accurate detection of termite nests, intelligent monitoring, early warning of termites activities, risk assessment of dam-related animal hazards, comprehensive management of termite control, and system mechanism construction. This review can provide a reference for promoting more accurate, efficient, green, and intelligent termite control.
