Abstract:
Wind field plays a significant role in wave modeling. ERA5, CCMP and CFSv2 were selected to assess their performance in the simulation of wind wave during Typhoon In-Fa. All of the three wind datasets were proved to be able to capture the trend of wave growing and damping. Wave height output of CFSv2 was generally larger than that of ERA5 and CCMP. Statistical parameters of MAE, RMSE and IA were adopted to evaluate the model results with field measurement from four wave buoys. The statistics demonstrated that ERA5 wind data performed best, which was followed by CCMP wind data. Whereas model results of CFSv2 were generally larger than measurements. The CCMP wind data performed best in capturing the peak wave height, followed by ERA5.
