Abstract: ased on type selection of stilling basin for the river cutoff project in Lishi county, slope types of stilling basin are presented in this paper. Formulas with which the size of stilling basin of rectangular open channel can be calculated are also derived in this paper based on energy equation and momentum equation of steady flow. Fair agreement between calculated values and test results for Lishi county river cutoff project is obtained after verification.
