Abstract:
In order to study the regulation means of Bnguazhou branch in the Yangtze River, a hydraulic river model with a movable bed is established and conducted. The regulation plan suggested by the model study is adopted and constructed by the Bureau of Water Conservancy of Nanjing City in 1985. Recent field observations show that the regulation means is successful in preventing the silting of Xinshengwei harbour located in the right branch and lowering the declining tendency of the left branch. Some new points about the river change theory and river regulation methods suggested by the paper are valuable for the regulation of the lower Yangtze River and other alluvial rivers also.
