Abstract: The engineering aspects, reservoir operation and dam break of Gouhou face dam are introduced in this paper. A description of different stages in failure process of face gravel dam, failure mechanism, type and causes in every failure stage are given. Six suggestions on building such kind of dams in future are presented at the end of the article.
