Abstract:
Traditionally, the simplified quasi static method is adopted to study the stress and strain induced by earthquake for sluices. However, this method can not take into consideration the effect of uneven settlement of the ground on its upper structure. A more satisfactory method is used to study by a model that can represent both the dynamic properties of the ground and the upper structure. Some basic principles of this problem are discussed from an engineering viewpoint. A simulation analysis can be made on the preliminary design of a spillway and scouring sluice through three dimensional finite element model which has been constructed strictly according to the structural and geological condition.
