Abstract: Based on the data of ship arrival at Shiqiao Lock in 2001 and by use of mathematic analysis methods, the daily ship arrival is assumed to accord with the Poisson distribution and normal distribution. Comparison between the observed ship arrival and theoretical ship arrival shows that the distributions of daily-arriving-ship quantity and daily-arriving-ship tonnage are close to the normal distribution.
