Abstract: Some numerical methods used usually for analyzing rock mechanics and the states of art of simulation methods for jointed rocks are systematically introduced. The advantages and disadvantages of these methods for analyzing discontinuous deformation of jointed rocks are discussed. Finally, some suggestions for further studies on numerical simulation of jointed rocks are presented.
